Decision Making

Life is full of decisions we must make, and sometimes wouldn’t it just be nice if we could get a break and not have to make so many in a day. However, the fact is we do have to make them, and often people are watching at how well we do this, and this is how they judge our capability.

The longer we keep putting it off, the harder it gets, so what are some things we really should be considering when making decisions each day, here are just a few for you to think about…

1. If you are stressed, tired (I call it brain challenged) or being pressured for an answer, this is never the right timing, so step away until those circumstances change, so you give the decision the best possible chance of being the best thought out one.

2. Maybe you need another opinion or just to talk it out loud with yourself, but never think it is bad to ask another opinion, after all you want to make it the best one for everybody

3. Always think about the end outcomes you are trying to achieve, think long term not just in the spur of the moment

4. If you are really struggling, then list the pros and cons on a page and then seeing it in writing can often help unpack faster

5. If you really can’t decide then sleep on it but make it a top priority for a first job when you are fresh the next morning

6. Trust yourself, people have put their faith in your ability because they believe you can do it, you need to reconnect with your capabilities to remember that yes you can.

Never just settle for a that will do, remember your reputation and the final outcomes are relying on you doing the best job at it you can

If it persists that you just can’t make any, then you need to talk to us, as we can help you understand what is holding you back, and help you through, so you can get back to feeling you not only are making great decisions, but are efficient at it.
